Biochemistry Retreat 2012

The Biochemistry Department went on a 2 day retreat on October 18th and 19th at the Wachusett Village Inn.

Congratulations also go out to the winners in the Best Poster competition. All retreat attendees voted for their favorite posters in three category. Ballots were tallied then burned in the fire pit before any ballots with hanging chads could be contested.

Dr. Symes wins teaching award

Congratulations to Dr. Karen Symes who was co-awarded with Dr. Shoumita Dasgupta the Graduate Medical Sciences Faculty Recognition Award  for her efforts creating the new FiBS I curriculum.

 

Congratulations Celeste!

Congratulations to Celeste Rich who has been awarded a 2012  Perkins Distinguished Service Award. These awards are presented annually by the Faculty Council to three members of the Boston University family in recognition of distinguished service to the University.  Celeste was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the research mission of the Biochemistry Department and the University at large. It is a well-deserved honor for a wonderful person! Congratulations and Thank you Celeste!

Dr. Catherine Costello named 2011 American Chemical Society Fellow

The American Chemical Society (ACS) inducted BUSM Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Mass Spectrometry Resource Catherine E. Costello, PhD as an ACS Fellow during the Society’s recent national meeting in Denver. Dr. Costello joins more than 200 distinguished scientists in receiving this honor. Selection is based on outstanding accomplishments in chemistry and important contributions to ACS, the world’s largest scientific society.

Dr. Barbara Schreiber Receives Dental School Award

Congratulations to Dr. Barbara Schreiber who recently received the 2011 Proctor and Gamble Outstanding Faculty Award in the Basic Sciences. Dr. Schreiber was selected by the students of the Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Class of 2014 for this award.
