Research Participation

We are proud to be designated as an American Parkinson Disease Association Advanced Center of Parkinson Research. As you may know, research is an integral part of the progress in any program. Investigators affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine conduct research involving new medication, pharmacokinetics, genetics, xenograft transplant, and environmental epidemiology. Patients that meet the criteria on any research project are welcome to participate.
The following is a list of clinical trials taking place at Boston Medical Center that are currently recruiting patients for participation. For additional information on eligibility please contact the person listed at the end of the study description.

· Faculty members at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Boston University in cooperation with the Department of Neurology at Boston Medical Center are conducting a study focused on the effectiveness of physical therapy intervenition in people with Parkinson’s disease. We are currently looking for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease who are interested in participating in our study. The study involves an initial evaluation of activities of daily living, walking abilities, balance and neurological signs followed by participation in a physical therapy program. Participants will be asked to take part in a physical therapy program 2 times per week for 6 weeks held at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Evaluations will also take place after participation in the treatment in order to detect any improvements. There is no charge for participants and parking has been arranged at Sargent College. Sargent college is located at 635 Commonwealth Ave in Boston and is easily accessible by car or public transportation.
