What to Expect on Admission Day

After completing the short eligibility screening over the phone, patients will be scheduled for admission appointments. The first admission appointment can take up to three hours. On this day, patients will check-in at the front desk and be asked to provide a urine drug screen, after completed, patients will meet with an addiction nurse to complete a substance use assessment and sign admission documentation. This assessment usually takes an hour. After meeting with the nurse, the patient will meet with one of our psychiatrists or nurse practitioners for a medication evaluation, lasting about 45 minutes. Once the med eval is complete, the patient will sit with the patient care coordinator to complete a couple of short self-administered questionnaires required for the clinic. Before the patient leaves for the day, they will make appointments to return the following week.

The first follow-up appointment will also be a longer appointment and can take up to 2 hours. During this appointment the patient will meet with the nurse, a social worker for a biopsych assessment and the peer recovery coach. Patients will discuss with the social worker how frequently they would like to attend therapy and also be reminded they will need to complete 2 group therapy sessions in their first month of treatment.

Patients will continue to attend weekly appointments with the nurse for at least a month.
