Dental School Unveils New Albany Street Entrance

The Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine opened a new Albany Street entrance on Jan. 2.

It was a momentous return from Intersession for the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM), which officially opened its new Patient and Visitor entrance located at 635 Albany St. as of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2. The new entrance now is the school’s official address.

The opening of the patient and visitor entrance is an important milestone in GSDM’s addition and renovation construction project, and marks the near completion of the project’s first phase. The dental school’s East Newton Street entrance closed Jan. 1, but will be renovated and reopened as the entrance for faculty, staff, students and residents in early 2020. In the interim, signage directs everyone to the Albany Street entrance.

“After months of hard work and dedication, it’s incredibly exciting to bring the first phase of the project ‘online.’ I am grateful for the support, patience, and flexibility that the GSDM community – and indeed, the entire Boston University Medical Campus – demonstrates every day amid this exciting, but at times disruptive, construction process,” said Jeffrey W. Hutter, GSDM Dean and Spencer N. Frankl Professor in Dental Medicine.

Phase II will begin in earnest in early 2019 and involves many developments, including a seven-story addition on the west side of the building and a two-story addition on the north side of the building.
