Dr. George Huang Joins GSDM

On September 1, Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) welcomed Dr. George Huang to the position of Herbert Schilder Professor in Endodontics and Director of the Postdoctoral Program in Endodontics.

Dr. Huang holds a DDS from Taipei Medical College and a Certificate in Endodontics, a Master of Science in Dentistry, and a Doctor of Science in Oral Biology, all from GSDM. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.

Dr. Huang has extensive experience teaching in both clinical and didactic settings. Since beginning his academic career, Dr. Huang has held faculty positions at Boston University, the University of California (San Diego and Los Angeles), the University of Maryland, Kaohsiung Medical University, and most recently Columbia University, where he was an Associate Professor and the Director of the Division of Endodontics.

In addition, Dr. Huang has held several research positions at the NIH/NIDCR Intramural Oral Infection and Immunity Branch and the NIH/NIAMS Intramural Cartilage Biology and Orthopedics Branch. He is currently engaged in research funded by the NIDCR and the AAE with grants totaling more than $2.7 million. He is the author of 30 peer reviewed articles and numerous book chapters and lectures nationally and internationally.

His background in research and academia will allow him to bring a unique skill set to the position and his time spent as a student at GSDM provides him with a deep understanding of current and past students.”
