Guidelines and Request Form for 4th Year MED Clerkship Blackboard Sites
Blackboard Learn is the primary learning management system at Boston University; it is used in on- and off-campus courses, certificate programs, and clerkships. Students can access course materials at any time and from any computer with an Internet connection.
Blackboard courses are available for each class offered. Instructor assignments and student enrollments are populated through an integration with MyBUStudent, BU’s student information system.
For the medical school, Blackboard courses are created by rotation, by block. In some cases, a department may wish to use a single Blackboard course for multiple blocks, and/or for multiple rotations. In order to protect student privacy and comply with FERPA, please reference the following guidelines in determining whether a combined Blackboard site can be used.
A combined Blackboard site for multiple blocks and/or rotations may include:
- Course materials
- Resources documents
- Information that is not specific to individual students
A combined Blackboard site may NOT include:
- Recorded content which captures student faces, voices, or names
- Discussion boards
- Other formats of student interaction
Note: If you wish to utilize any of these features, rotation and block-specific Blackboard courses should be utilized.
