Advisor: Tara Moore, PhD

Karen is using a nonhuman primate model of cortical injury to evaluate the efficacy of Glial Growth Factor 2 (a variant of the neuregulin-1 gene) in the recovery of fine motor function. Specifically, she is interested in the effects GGF2 may have on enhancing endogenous mechanisms to promote cortical reorganization and plasticity. In addition to this project, Karen is optimizing a new method to quantify newly synthesized myelin that occurs in vivo.
