Apply to our Programs
General Application Process
We are looking for students with a strong interest in the disciplines of Neurobiology and Anatomy and in pedagogy at the graduate and medical school level. Often this is demonstrated by a good undergraduate record in the sciences. Most, but not all of our successful applicants have prior research experience. Some of our students come to us directly from undergraduate programs, and others have worked in laboratories or in clinical positions before deciding to return to school. We also welcome applicants who have an interest in teaching in Biomedical Sciences, either as a career, or as a component of an academic position.
How to Apply
Graduate Medical Sciences (GMS) at Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine coordinates all graduate school applications. A common application form is used for all departments, so it is important to designate “Anatomy & Neurobiology” as your department of interest on this form. There is also a place on this form to indicate whether you are interested in the PhD or the master’s degree. Please visit the Admissions page for specific information on criteria and application information and directions. Please note that while there is an optional section on the GMS application form for entering GRE scores, we do not require the GRE or include GRE scores in our evaluation of master’s or PhD applicants.
Once you have submitted your application form through the GMS portal, your application will be available to the Anatomy & Neurobiology admissions committee for evaluation.

Master’s in Anatomy & Neurobiology (Vesalius Program)
The Master in Anatomy & Neurobiology provides training in the anatomical sciences and in neuroscience as well as in effective teaching of biomedical sciences at the graduate and medical school level. Graduates of the program typically go on to PhD programs, to Medical School or to teaching positions.
Successful applicants to the master’s program typically meet the following standards:
An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above in the sciences (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Psychology)
Good performance in undergraduate science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Psychology
Strong letters of recommendation
Please note however, that there are no hard and fast rules for acceptance, and a very strong background in one category can make up for a lower performance or lesser experience in another.
Total tuition cost for the two-year program: $74,995. *This does not include living expenses. Scholarships and financial aid are available
