BMC offers many family support programs which can help in stressful times.

Childcare Assistance

Child Care Choices of Boston
CCCB provides free information and referrals for childcare. Call (617) 542-5437 ext. 641 between 9am and 2pm.

Employee Assistance Program
The EAP can help with child or adult care issues. Call 1-800-345-4047 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Little Sprouts Daycare
Affordable, accredited, quality early education available to working families from the BUMC and BMC campuses.

To accommodate schedules of employees they are open from 7:00am to 7:00pm, Monday through Friday. After-school programs typically run from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Please call 1-877-977-7688 to find out availability and pricing (vouchers are accepted).

New Mothers

Lactation Rooms
Lactation Rooms for nursing mothers are available on both campuses.

Menino Pavilion – 3West – room 3706 – “Mothers’ Room” – across from nursery – may be occupied by patient – NICU – room 3608 – may be in use by NICU Mom

Newton Pavilion – 7West – room 7242

Yawkey Building – ACC5 Welcome Center Room 5N-22 – keys available at Welcome Reception Desk or at Pediatric Primary Care Reception Desk.

Dowling Building – 6th floor. Available to faculty and students of the Medical and Dental schools and the School of Public Health. Contact CIR (Committee of Interns and Residents) at 414-5301 for access

Leaves of Absences

Family Medical Leave
FMLA allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave to care for family members.

Massachusetts Maternity Leave
MML allows employees not eligible for FMLA to still take up to 8 weeks of leave for maternity.  For more information please call 617.414.5478.

Small Necessity Act
SNA allows eligible employees to take up to 24 hours a year to take care of family health and educational needs.


Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Dependent Care FSAs are offered at BMC. Employees may contribute up to $5,000 a year tax free, to pay for child care expenses.

MetLaw can assist enrolled employees with a number of family law issues such as, wills, guardianships for minor children, adoption services, immigration assistance as well as elder law matters.

HPHC members are eligible for a number of discounts programs such as, CareScout, an eldercare ratings program, Home Instead Senior care and Senior Assist for caregivers. To find out more go to
