This award was for Alex&#8217;s project on how &#8220;fibroblast activation foretells leukocyte infiltration and autoimmune attack on non-lymphoid organs.&#8221; Well done, Alex!<\/p>\n<h2>APRIL\/MAY\/JUNE<\/h2>\n<h2>Sila Ataca Successfully Defends Dissertation<\/h2>\n<p><span>Congratulations to Sila Ataca in\u00a0the lab of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/thomas-b-kepler-ph-d\/\">Thomas Kepler<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span>on the successful defense of her dissertation entitled, &#8220;Biophysical Characterization of Affinity Maturation in the Human Response to Anthrax Vaccine&#8221; on April 25, 2018. Nice work, Sila!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Tessa Cressey Receives ASV Travel Award<\/h2>\n<p><span>Congratulations to Tessa Cressey in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/rachel-fearns-phd\/\">Fearns<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/elke-muhlberger-phd\/\">M\u00fchlberger<\/a> Labs on receiving a student travel award from The American Society of Virology. Tessa will use this award to attend the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asv.org\/asv-2018\/\">ASV Meeting<\/a> at the University of Maryland in July.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Kimberly Barker Receives F31 Fellowship Award<\/h2>\n<p><span>Congratulations to\u00a0Kimberly Barker in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/joseph-p-mizgerd-scd\/\">Mizgerd Lab<\/a> who was just awarded an F31 Predoctoral Fellowship Award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the NIH for her work on Lung Memory B Cell Contributions to Heterotypic Anti-Pneumococcal Immunty.
