The Corwin Award recognizes a student who exemplifies the characteristics of an outstanding departmental \u201ccitizen.\u201d Values of collegiality, scientific integrity, commitment to scientific endeavor, and active participation in departmental activities are all components taken into account when the selection of the Corwin Award recipient is made. In addition to the students above, we would also like to congratulate Krishna Moody, who was unable to attend graduation, and Munir Mosaheb, who just defended and will receive his degree in September and be eligible to &#8220;walk&#8221; in the 2017 commencement.\u00a0 Great job, everyone!\u00a0 We are all so proud of you!<\/p>\n<h2>Munir Mosaheb Successfully Defends his Dissertation<\/h2>\n<p>Congratulations to Munir Mosaheb in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/lee-m-wetzler-md\/\">Wetzler Lab<\/a> on the successful defense of his dissertation entitled, &#8220;Immunological Responses and Mechanisms of Action of the TLR2-ligand Neisserial PorB Vaccine Adjuvant.&#8221; Nice job, Munir!<\/p>\n<h2>MARCH\/APRIL<\/h2>\n<h2>Sila Ataca Receives Renewal of her Faculty for the Future Fellowship<\/h2>\n<p>Sila Ataca, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/thomas-b-kepler-ph-d\/\">Kepler Lab<\/a>, has received a renewal of her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facultyforthefuture.net\/content\/about-faculty-future-program\">Faculty for the Future<\/a> Fellowship from the Schlumberger Foundation. Russek Student Achievement Day<\/a> will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016.<\/p>\n<h2>Tom Kepler Named as Director of the Immunology Training Program<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/thomas-b-kepler-ph-d\/\">Tom Kepler<\/a> has been selected to replace David Sherr as the Director of the Immunology Training Progam (ITP).<\/p>\n<h2>Kaitlin Sawatzki Receives AAI Trainee Abstract Award<\/h2>\n<p>Kaitlin Sawatzki, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/thomas-b-kepler-ph-d\/\">Kepler lab<\/a>, recently received a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aai.org\/Awards\/Travel\/index.html\">2016 AAI Trainee Abstract Award<\/a> for the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.immunology2016.org\/\">Immunology 2016 Meeting<\/a>, May 13-17, 2016, in Seattle, WA. This award provides travel support to AAI Trainee members whose first-author abstracts submitted to the AAI annual meeting are selected for oral presentation in block symposia. Congratulations, Kate!<\/p>\n<h2>BUSM Inflammation Symposium, May 23, 2016<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/barbara-s-nikolajczyk-phd\/\">Barb Nikolajczyk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/lee-m-wetzler-md\/\">Lee Wetzler<\/a> are hosting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/pid\/about-bu-tpid\/926-2\/\">Boston University School of Medicine Inflammation\u00a0Symposium<\/a> May 23, 2016 in Bakst Auditorium. All are welcome to join the cross-talk amongst inflammation researchers at BUSM and beyond.\u00a0 Trainee talks will be selected from submitted abstracts. Please contact the organizers for more details.<\/p>\n<h2>Sila Ataca Receives GMSSO Community Service Award<\/h2>\n<p>Sila Ataca, a graduate student in the the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/virol-immunol-microbio\/people\/faculty\/thomas-b-kepler-ph-d\/\">Kepler lab<\/a>, was awarded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/student-life\/gmsso\/resources\/\">Graduate Medical Sciences Student Organization Community Service Award<\/a> for the spring 2016 semester. With these travel funds Sila will be able to attend the <a href=\"http:\/\/structbio.vanderbilt.edu\/comp\/workshops\/rosetta_apr2016\/admin\/program.php\">Rosetta Antibody Workshop<\/a> and Vanderbilt University in April.
