{"id":683,"date":"2021-11-08T16:42:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-08T21:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/reach4adhd\/?page_id=683"},"modified":"2021-12-10T10:52:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T15:52:36","slug":"adhd-communication","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/reach4adhd\/research\/adhd-communication\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Needs Assessment: Communication Challenges for Parents of Adolescents with ADHD<\/h3>\n<p>A needs-based assessment of parent-adolescent communication (PAC) between parents and their adolescents with ADHD will be conducted to develop a parenting skills class that includes motivational interviewing (MI) skills to address the challenges of PAC in a developmentally appropriate way. Qualitative interviews with both parents and their adolescent children\u00a0with ADHD will be conducted. The interviews will include open-ended questions regarding parent concerns about their adolescent\u2019s behaviors, parent-child communication patterns, and parent stress. The transcripts of the interviews will be analyzed in order to\u00a0identify themes that emerge, and a focus group will be conducted to test the validity of these themes.
