“Developing Pluripotent Stem Cells to Model and Treat Lung Disease” team.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A team of Pulmonary Center researchers, led by Dr. Darrell Kotton, has been awarded a five-year, $14 million grant from the NIH\u2019s National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for his research, \u201cDeveloping Pluripotent Stem Cells to Model and Treat Lung Disease.\u201d The other PIs on this award are Drs. Andrew Wilson, Finn Hawkins, and Kostas Alysandratos. This is the first NHLBI Program Project Grant (PPG) that will focus entirely on stem cells to advance lung regeneration research, in this case translating lung stem cell research from basic discovery to future clinical applications. The PPG will have 4 projects and 2 cores, all interacting to complete shared aims, and synergistic cross-project experiments.
