VA Boston Healthcare System, Boston University School of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School would like to announce the acceptance of two new post-doctoral research fellows to the 2019-2020 Neuropsychiatry Translational Research Fellowship (NeTReF) program. The NeTReF trains junior investigators from a variety of disciplines in innovative research methodologies that address intersections between stress and brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, and commonly co-occurring psychiatric, substance abuse and medical disorders. Byung Kim, MD,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is a graduate of Emory University, Atlanta, GA, with a B.A. in Psychology, Emperor\u2019s College, Santa Monica, CA, with a Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and St. George\u2019s University School of Medicine, Grenada.\u00a0 He is currently a PGY-IV resident in the Harvard South Shore Psychiatry Residency and Pathways to Research Programs. Dr\u00a0Kim plans to focus his research on the underlying neurobiological mechanisms by which acupuncture may treat pain and anxiety in Veteran smokers and non-smokers with chronic pain and PTSD.<\/div>\n

\nTravis Evans<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(PhD\u00a0pending) is a graduate of the University of Texas, Tyler, TX, with a BS\u00a0in Psychology, and University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, with a Masters in Clinical Psychology\/Adult Psychopathology.\u00a0 He is currently completing his internship in Clinical Psychology at VA Boston Healthcare System in affiliation with Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Dr\u00a0Evans plans to combine psychophysiology and neuroimaging techniques to characterize the neurobiological mechanisms underlying approach, avoidance, and reward-related behavior as manifest transdiagnostically in PTSD and comorbid anxiety and addiction disorders.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
