In March, our collaborators – Dr. K.V. Kishore Kumar, Dr. Vandana Gopikumar & Kamala Easwaran \u2013 visited Boston from India for meetings with the Department of Psychiatry and local community agencies working to address homelessness and mental health. Dr. Kishore and Kamala presented at BUSM on March 29th<\/sup> on the work of The Banyan, which provides emergency and recovery-oriented care services through hospital-based and shelter-based services, wellbeing-oriented outpatient care services, and inclusive living options. This growing collaboration seeks to build capacity for evidence-based mental health research to inform the development of sustainable health systems level changes. \nIn addition, Anitha Dayalan,\u00a0PGY4 <\/strong>\u00a0spent 4 weeks in Chennai, India with The Banyan. During her\u00a0time at the Banyan, she\u00a0shadowed many of the organization’s psychiatrists. She also assisted in writing a brief educational manual about mental illness for the organization’s community mental health workers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
