To this end, there is no on-call responsibility.<\/p>\n<p id=\"clinic\"><strong>Continuity Clinics <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents continue their long-term treatment in two continuity clinics, each for 1\/2 day weekly. One clinic is at Boston Medical Center where residents continue treatment of patients from their second year and some from their third year of training. The other is at the Boston VA Healthcare System at Jamaica Plain where residents continue to treat patients from their third year of training ensuring a deep knowledge of treatment of dual diagnosis patients and those with chronic mental illness. Clinical and psychopharmacology supervision continues on site. Each resident has an educational psychotherapy supervisor for ongoing long-term psychotherapy as part of the core curriculum.<\/p>\n<p id=\"electives\"><strong>Electives\/Selectives <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents work with the Program Director to develop individually tailored electives and VA selectives\u00a0 in areas of interest such as psychotherapy, substance abuse, research, trauma, geriatrics, psychosomatic medicine, community psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and administration.\u00a0 Basic science electives in pharmacology and molecular biology are available as well.\u00a0 Popular electives include chief residency, psychosomatic medicine, addiction psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and one of two student health treatment settings on the Charles River Campus of Boston University- the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders and the Danielsen Institute, administration, and research in a variety of settings.
