NEW FAMILY MEDICINE PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN APPOINTED TO BMC, BU School of Med

Somerville resident Douglas William Comeau, DO, has been appointed to the positions of primary care physician in the Department of Family Medicine with a specialty in primary care sports medicine and an assistant professor of family medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM).

Comeau’s clinical expertise is in family medicine, as well as musculoskeletal manipulative treatment; a hands-on medical treatment based on an understanding of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems. His research interests include manual medicine in NCAA training rooms and the advancement of evidence-based medicine in primary care sports medicine.

Comeau received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, and completed his family medicine residency at Tufts University.
Prior to his appointments, Comeau completed a fellowship with a Certificate of Added Qualification in primary care sports medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Comeau has been a contributor to several books, and is a
member of the American Board of Family Medicine.
