Biostatistics’ Gupta to Discuss Bayesian Statistics at Indian Conference
Biostatistics Assistant Professor Mayetri Gupta will be speaking at the platinum jubilee of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, India, January 1- 4. The conference is titled “International Conference on Statistical Paradigms– Recent Advances and Reconciliations.”
Dr. Gupta’s talk is titled “Prior elicitation and variable selection in high dimensional regression models” and focuses on applications of Bayesian statistics. She is the newest faculty member of the Biostatistics department, having joined in September 2007. She will be teaching BS 703 – “Biostatistics” during the spring semester. Her research focuses on developing statistical methodology to solve complex high-dimensional problems arising in genomics and computational biology.
The Indian Statistical Institute has played an important role in the development of statistical sciences in India. This conference will cover all mainstream areas of statistics as well as recently emerging new areas.
