Artemis Iatrou, Ph.D., is a computational neuroscience researcher. Her research investigates how genetic vulnerability and environmental exposures, particularly stress, shape cell-specific molecular processes in the human brain.<\/p>\n
Dr. Iatrou integrates human postmortem brain data with single-nucleus and spatial transcriptomics, multi-omic profiling, and genetic analyses to identify molecular mechanisms underlying post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, Alzheimer\u2019s disease, and brain aging. Her work examines the spatial organization and disease-associated states of neuronal and non-neuronal cell types, including glial, vascular, and immune cells, and the molecular pathways through which genetic and environmental factors converge.<\/p>\n
By connecting genomic data to cellular mechanisms and clinical phenotypes, her research aims to identify biomarkers and prioritize therapeutic hypotheses for psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.<\/p>\n
