Boston is a city rich in history, old world charm, and modern vitality. Home to more than 60 colleges and universities, it is an intellectual and cultural center, diverse in its people, stimulating in its opportunities, yet relaxed and accessible.<\/p>\n
Boston’s many distinct neighborhoods<\/a> offer varied cuisine, arts and entertainment, and recreational activities. Historic architectural treasures intermingle with contemporary skyscrapers, evidence of the city\u2019s thriving business and financial community and its leading role in research and technology.<\/p>\n The campuses of Boston University<\/a> are well situated to enjoy these opportunities. The Medical Campus<\/a> is located in Boston\u2019s South End<\/a> and connects to the Charles River and Fenway Campuses by a convenient shuttle-bus system<\/a>. It is only minutes from the downtown theater, shopping, government, and financial districts.<\/p>\n Boston is home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra<\/a>, the Boston Pops<\/a>, and a wealth of\u00a0musical options<\/a> from opera, rock, jazz, and reggae. Dance and theater groups perform regularly, and students can take special advantage of performances at the Boston University College of Fine Arts<\/a> and the Booth Theatre<\/a>. Boston museums include Museum of Fine Arts<\/a>, the\u00a0Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum<\/a>, and the\u00a0Institute of Contemporary Art<\/a>. Galleries intermingle with elegant boutiques on Newbury Street, and visitors participate in a variety of interactive exhibits at the Museum of Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n An enthusiastic\u00a0sports<\/a> city, Boston supports the\u00a0Red Sox<\/a>, the\u00a0New England Patriots<\/a>, the\u00a0Celtics<\/a>, and the\u00a0Bruins<\/a>. Each April, the\u00a0Boston Marathon<\/a> passes through the Boston University Charles River campus. In October, the Head of the Charles, one of the world’s premier rowing competitions, begins at the Boston University Bridge.<\/p>\n There are beaches to the north and south, including the famous shores of Cape Cod<\/a> and for hikers and skiers the mountains of New Hampshire,Vermont and Maine are a few hours by car.<\/p>\n Boston supports a vigorous intellectual environment and is world renowned for biomedical research and biotechnology. The Medical Campus includes the Schools of Medicine<\/a>, Public Health<\/a>, Dental Medicine<\/a> and Graduate Medical Sciences<\/a>, as well as Boston Medical Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Chobanian & Avedisian\u00a0School of Medicine includes more than 1700 faculty members and nearly 1900 medical and graduate students.\u00a0 The high quality of research at the Medical Campus is demonstrated by FY 2020 total research awards valued at $435M. Over 25 labs\u00a0across Medical and Charles River campuses are home to predoctoral and postdoctoral students in our Molecular Training Program.
