Start by completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FAFSA<\/a> (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).<\/li>\n<li>If you do not qualify for U.S. federal student aid we advise that you check with your home country to see if loans to study in the U.S. are available.<\/li>\n<li>Next, many U.S.<span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/osfs\/resources\/types-of-aid\/loans\/creditbasedloans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">lenders<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>offer credit-based educational loans to international students<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>if they apply with a credit-worthy U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen co-borrower<\/strong>. If you are able to secure a qualified co-borrower we urge you to do so and consider loans of this type, because approval and more favorable terms will be more likely. Our<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/osfs\/resources\/types-of-aid\/loans\/creditbasedloans\/\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Credit-Based Loans page<\/a><\/span> has more information on how to get started with finding the best option for you.<\/li>\n<li>If you are an international student seeking to borrow <strong>without a co-borrower<\/strong> your ability to borrow will be extremely limited. The two lenders listed below do <em>not <\/em>require a U. S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen co-borrower, however their interest rates and other terms may be less favorable. Certain restrictions apply as noted.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpowerfinancing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MPower Financing<\/a><br \/>\nOffers loans to eligible international students who are enrolled in a\u00a0degree program and are within two years of graduation.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/prodigyfinance.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prodigy Finance<\/a><br \/>\nOffers loans to eligible international students currently enrolled in GSDM and SPH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Please note that eligibility for credit-based loans can be changed based on financial and economic changes and are made at the discretion of each lender. Please refer to your lender for a list of eligible countries and programs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MPower: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpowerfinancing.com\/blog\/international-study-programs-health-and-medicine\">Schools We Support<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Prodigy: <a href=\"https:\/\/prodigyfinance.com\/where-can-i-study\/\">Schools We Support<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You are not required to borrow from any lender listed here, elsewhere on our website, or in other University materials. You may choose to borrow from any lender without penalty. Although, you must search for these scholarships yourself and submit any applications apart from your application to your academic program.<\/p>\n<p>More information about searching for private scholarships can be found on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/osfs\/resources\/types-of-aid\/scholarships\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Scholarships page<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Additional Considerations<\/h4>\n<p>International students applying for admission must present evidence of sufficient funds to cover all tuition, fees, books, and living expenses for their study at Boston University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consider costs for the entire duration of your program<\/strong>. Many credit-based loans are approved on a yearly basis and students are not guaranteed to be approved for loans each year as lender requirements change.
