Details of the certification requirements can be found on the page entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/ohra\/required-training\/human-subjects-protection-training\/initial-certification\/\">Initial Certification<\/a>. This current page provides directions for accessing the CITI web site which is where the courses are offered that allow investigators to become &#8220;certified.\u201d We suggest that you print this page before navigating to the CITI website.\u00a0 The instructions below will be helpful to you as you navigate on that site.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"#one\">I am registering to CITI for the first time<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b><a href=\"#two\">I am already registered to CITI under Boston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center<\/a><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><a href=\"#three\">I am already registered to CITI under a different institution other than Boston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center<\/a><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<p><a name=\"one\" class=\"offset\" id=\"one\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><b>I am registering to CITI for the first time<\/b><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>To register for the first time, click on the \u201cRegister\u201d button.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the registration form: Please note these important steps:\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In Step 1, in the \u201cSelect Your Organization Affiliation\u201d field, type in the word &#8220;Boston&#8221; and all institutions with &#8220;Boston&#8221; in their name will be displayed in the drop down list; select \u201c<strong>Boston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center<\/strong>\u201d (make sure you don\u2019t select \u201cBoston University\u201d which is for the Charles River Campus).\u00a0You need to agree to the terms of service to continue, so click on the check box next to \u201cI AGREE to the Terms of Service.\u201d Next, you need to affirm your affiliation with our institution, so click on the check box next to \u201cI affirm that I am an affiliate of Boston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center.\u201d Click on the \u201cContinue To Create Your CITI Program Username\/Password\u201d button to continue.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In Step 2 \u201cPersonal information,\u201d for the primary email address, enter your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BU email address (@bu.edu)<\/span> if you have one; otherwise, enter your preferred email.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In step 6, for the Institutional Email Address, enter your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BU email address (@bu.edu)<\/span> if you have one; otherwise, enter your preferred email.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In step 7 question 1, <strong>select \u201cMedical Campus Biomedical Researchers\u201d or \u201cMedical Campus Sociobehavioral Researchers,\u201d<\/strong> whichever is better aligned with your type of research.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In step 7 question 2, <strong>select \u201cHIPAA and Research Data Security,\u201d<\/strong> which is required for all researchers.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">In step 7, you can select at this time any additional courses of interest if needed [e.g., <strong>Good Clinical Practice (GCP), BMC\/BU Medical Campus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Conflicts of Interest<\/strong>].<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">When you\u2019re done filling out the form, click on \u201cComplete Registration.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">Click on \u201cFinalize Registration.\u201d This will finalize the registration and log you in into the Welcome screen of your CITI account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Next to \u201cBoston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center Courses,\u201d click on the \u201cView Courses\u201d button to show the available courses.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the course that you want to take and click on the \u201cStart Now\u201d button to take that course.<\/li>\n<li>If this is the first time you are visiting this page, then you need to click on \u201cComplete the Integrity Assurance Statement before beginning the course\u201d; select \u201cI agree\u2026\u201d; and then click \u201cSubmit.\u201d If you have already done this, skip this step.<\/li>\n<li>You should notice that the \u201cStart\u201d button for the first module listed under \u201cRequired Modules\u201d is clickable now. This should take you to the Welcome screen of your CITI account.<\/li>\n<li>Next to \u201cBoston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center,\u201d click on the \u201cView Courses\u201d button.<\/li>\n<li>This will take you to the \u201cShow Courses for\u201d page that will list all \u201cBoston University Medical Campus\/Boston Medical Center\u201d courses that you have added to your list of courses<\/li>\n<li>If the course(s) that you want to take are listed there, skip to step 7.
