Many landlords require a 60 day notice.<\/li>\n<li>Review <a title=\"Mass Tenants Rights and Responsibilities\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/ocabr\/consumer-rights-and-resources\/housing\/tenant-and-landlord\/tenant-rights.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tenant Rights and Responsibilities<\/a> from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.<\/li>\n<li>Clean the apartment thoroughly and remove all belongings or the landlord may charge you for cleaning and removal.<\/li>\n<li>Contact utility companies to terminate their services in your name as of your move out date.<\/li>\n<li>Consult the <a title=\"Apartment Condition Statement\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alphamanagementcorp.com\/files\/docs\/apartment_condition.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apartment Condition Statement<\/a> you completed when moving in. The entire security deposit may not be refunded if there are any damages to the apartment.\u00a0 Conduct a joint inspection with your landlord to discuss damages if any.<\/li>\n<li>Return your keys to the landlord and obtain a signed receipt for keys.<\/li>\n<li>Change your address with the <a href=\"https:\/\/moversguide.usps.com\/icoa\/icoa-main-flow.do?execution=e1s1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United States Postal Service<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Take pictures and date them when you leave for the last time.<\/li>\n<li>Contact the landlord prior to your leaving to request your security deposit be sent to your new address, or arrange to pick it up from landlord.<\/li>\n<li>Make arrangements for storage if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.massmovers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Massachusetts Movers Association<\/a> If you need a moving truck, reserve one in advance during the peak moving season (June, July, August, and September). Be smart about choosing a moving service, hire an established company with a good reputation.
