The word \u201cMidwife\u201d originates from the old English word <em>mid <\/em>\u201cwith\u201d <em>wife <\/em>\u201cWomen\u201d. While the profession has changed in many ways through centuries, the concept of being \u201cwith women\u201d has remained the same.\u00a0 Midwives pride themselves on women-centered, individualized care for patients and their families. Midwives are specialists in the normal processes of pregnancy, birth and the post partum period. Midwives manage many common obstetric complications and work in collaboration with Obstetricians to provide safe care for women.<\/p>\n<p>Midwives know how to handle many complications, and we work closely with collaborating physicians to manage any complications that may arise.<\/p>\n<p>Midwives also provide pregnancy options counseling, family planning counseling and administration and insertion of contraceptive medications and devices. \u00a0Midwives are trained provide routine gynecologic care for women across the lifespan.\u00a0 Midwives believe pregnancy and birth are normal events in the life of a woman and we strive to make this process as healthy and empowering as possible.\u00a0They provide personalized, respectful care for each client.
