Residency training can present a variety of challenges to personal and professional well-being, including: emotional and physical exhaustion, heightened anxiety, feelings of inefficacy, and social disconnection. We aim to help residents develop the skills needed to maintain their own wellness as a resident and as a practicing physician.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\"><\/span>A strong, cohesive culture is a strength of the residency. While the collegiate environment is bolstered mainly by the day-to-day positive interactions between trainees and faculty, the program and department also sponsor\u00a0regular\u00a0social events, such as a resident retreat to local recreation center Boda Borg, holiday parties, summer barbecues at the Chair&#8217;s house, end-of-block drinks, Women in Neurology group dinners and departmental potlucks.<\/li>\n<li><span>The Resident Mentorship Program &#8211; designed to provide residents at all levels with faculty support and guidance as they navigate their residency training,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Resident weekly newsletter &#8211; <em>Transtentorial Times<\/em>,<\/li>\n<li>Lunch provided at weekly didactics,<\/li>\n<li>Gratitude jars,<\/li>\n<li>Mindfulness based stress reduction and skills for individually managing stress,<\/li>\n<li>Social events to help with bonding\u00a0 and socialization,<\/li>\n<li>Social media where we celebrate the residency including our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/bmcneurology\/\">Instagram<\/a> page,<\/li>\n<li>NEW! Primary Care appointments during Intern Orientation.<\/li>\n<li>Boston Sports Club benefit,<\/li>\n<li>Employee Assistance Program &#8211;\u00a0The EAP provides employees and their families with confidential counseling and referrals on a wide range of concerns, including\u00a0behavioral health, substance use, smoking cessation, family problems, stress, career concerns, and more.<\/li>\n<li>Doctor on Demand: 24\/7 access to video visits with doctors and therapists<\/li>\n<li>Daylight: New digital therapy program to manage your daily stress.<\/li>\n<li>A free Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course for residents and fellows (provides tools to reduce stress, experience joy and meaning in practice; taught by BUMG faculty),<\/li>\n<li>The Employee Assistance Clinician (Beth Milaszewski) provides\u00a0direct care to all BMC employees.<\/li>\n<li>CARE@WORK &#8211; Backup Care: Last-minute care for children, adults, &amp; elders for\u00a0work-related needs.<\/li>\n<li>Circles Concierge Service &#8211; BMC\u2019s personal assistant concierge program, with<br \/>\nany request for free assistance in planning and coordinating all\u00a0sorts of projects. Circles can help with snow removal services, pet\u00a0services, dining recommendations, travel arrangements, moving services, product comparison, party planning, and more.<\/li>\n<li>SLEEPIO &#8211;\u00a0The sleep experts at Sleepio can help you get the best sleep\u00a0possible. This 6-week personalized sleep program will teach you\u00a0techniques to get your sleep schedule, thoughts, lifestyle, and\u00a0sleep environment into shape.<\/li>\n<li>Diabetes Support Program &#8211; this is a free program for BMC employees\/families in BMC\u2019s<br \/>\nmedical plans that helps people with diabetes effectively manage\u00a0their condition.
