Applicants must hold an MD (or, equivalent) degree and have completed an Internal Medicine Residency. International Medical Graduates must possess the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification. We <strong>offer both H1B and J1 Visas to qualified non-US citizens or permanent residents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our program participates in the Nephrology Fellowship Match, and <strong>all applicants for clinical training are required to apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)<\/strong>.\u00a0 As we have flexibility of moving onto the research track during the first year of fellowship, applicants do not have to decide if they want to apply for a clinical or a research track at the time of ranking. Applicants should rank us as &#8220;Nephrology\/Other&#8221; in the NRMP system, and qualified fellows may switch to the clinical-research track at the end of the first year of fellowship.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Applicants for Research Training<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Research fellowship without a clinical training component is primarily for candidates with a PhD, an MD, or a similar post-graduate degree who are seeking post-doctoral research training. Applicants with an MD degree typically come for research training after completing their clinical nephrology training, but it is possible to start nephrology fellowship with the research training and complete the clinical training afterwards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Interested candidates are requested to send a brief statement of interest and <em>curriculum vitae<\/em> to the Fellowship Program Director Dr. Ashish Upadhyay by email (ashishu@bu.edu).<\/strong>\u00a0 Additional application materials are sought from qualified candidates, and selected candidates are invited to visit the Nephrology Section to meet faculty and fellows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We strongly encourage applications from candidates belonging to under-represented minority groups.
