Students should apply by the posted due dates on the website which change annually. Applications are not considered complete until both the student and mentor sections are received. <strong>Late applications will generally not be accepted without prior approval from program directors.<\/strong> After applications are submitted, students are encouraged to log back into the portal to check on the status including checking whether their mentor statement of support has been received and if it has been approved prior to official email letters being sent out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Application Components for Students &amp; Mentors <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Student application components:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Name, BU email address, ORCID#<br \/>\n\u2022 Research project details: mentor name, department, type of research, project title, purpose, hypothesis\/research question. Methods\/data collection\/analysis: include sufficient details of the project to ensure that the project is feasible (approximately 250-300 words).<br \/>\n<strong>Note:<\/strong> please use your mentor\u2019s official email address and not a personal email such as Gmail.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Anticipated results: describe the findings of this work and any alternative approaches or plans (approximately 150 words).<\/p>\n<p><em>Once the student submits the application, it is automatically routed to the mentor. Please also let your mentor know that your application has been routed to them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mentor application components:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Describe your commitment to mentoring the student on the project. Please include frequency of meetings with the student, training opportunities, research training plan, and expected outcomes (minimum 5-6 sentences).<br \/>\n\u2022 Names of co-mentors, research project support, location of research<br \/>\n\u2022 Confirmation of approvals as appropriate (IRB, IACUC, IBC)<br \/>\n\u2022 Mentors will also be asked if they have previously mentored medical students in research in the past 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that applications are not considered complete until both student and mentor components are received. Applications that lack detail or do not meet the expected length recommended will be denied. At the discretion of program directors, students may be given the opportunity to revise and clarify their applications. Mentors also may be asked to provide additional details.
