This collaborative effort with Research, Medical Education, and Student Affairs Offices is designed to encourage and facilitate outstanding medical student research experiences. To meet our student&#8217;s needs, our<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/medical-student-research-program-steering-committee\/\">Medical Student Research Steering Committee<\/a><span> meets monthly to discuss the program\u2019s vision, review research outcomes, and evaluate student research applications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are numerous opportunities for medical students to perform research at Boston University in the basic science departments, clinical departments, and specialized centers. Our opportunities include:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/getting-involved-in-research\/mssrp\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/getting-involved-in-research\/mssrp\/\">Medical Student Summer Research Program (MSSRP)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/getting-involved-in-research\/longitudinal-projects\/\">LEADS-Research Track &amp; Longitudinal Research Programs<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/getting-involved-in-research\/3rd-4th-year-electives\/\">Third &amp; Fourth Year Research Electives<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/getting-involved-in-research\/research-year\/\">Research Year and Half Year Programs<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a leading research-focused medical school our scientists are dedicated to identifying new mechanisms of disease and translating these discoveries into therapies that improve human health.<span>\u00a0<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/files\/2022\/08\/laynelabsm.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1758 alignright\" width=\"300\" height=\"320\" \/>Please<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medstudentresearch\/about\/contact-us\/\">contact us<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>to learn more about our program.
