It gives me great pleasure to share with you that Department of Medical Sciences & Education at Boston University School of Medicine, in collaboration with School of Education, is now enrolling its first class for our Certificate and Masters programs in Health Sciences Education.\u00a0 Please consider this exciting new opportunity for yourself and share it with your medical, dental or nursing colleagues and any other health professionals who may be interested in enhancing their skills for a career focused on medical and health sciences education.\u00a0 Applications are now open on a rolling basis. At BU, we have a reputation for offering practical approaches to learning that can be directly applied to adult-learner\u2019s needs, and this program will be no exception.\u00a0 We have designed this program primarily for working students to provide a broad-based foundation in the theory of education coupled with practical training in teaching skills specific to health sciences education.\u00a0 Coursework centers around core themes of curriculum development, didactic and clinical teaching, educational research and evaluation.\u00a0 Electives allow students to seek out additional coursework most relevant to their interests, and the practicum for Masters students provides an opportunity to apply these skills directly to a participant\u2019s current day-to-day work under skilled mentorship.\u00a0 Classes are scheduled primarily in evenings and can be taken part-time to provide flexibility for busy working professionals.<\/p>\n

At BU and as a medical school whose core academic hospital is Massachusetts\u2019 largest safety net hospital, we also have a deep commitment to celebrating a diversity of backgrounds, experience and ideas.\u00a0 In keeping with this mission, we encourage a wide variety of disciplines as well as local and international students to apply.\u00a0 We provide all students with individualized academic advising and support throughout the program.<\/p>\n
