Dr. David Coleman, Wade Professor and Chairman of Medicine, has been named the 2020 recipient of The Robert H. From the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine Announcement<\/a>:<\/p>\n “Described as an \u201coutstanding chair who has distinguished himself through service to his department and the academic internal medicine community,\u201d Dr. Coleman\u2019s \u201cimpact and reach are exceptional and his contributions to the tripartite missions of our profession \u2013 education, clinical care, and research \u2013 are extraordinary.\u201d Examples of Dr. Coleman\u2019s vision, systems thinking, and ability to lead change abound: from his passion for \u201cproviding exceptional clinical care despite the many impediments posed by social determinants of health\u201d to his commitment to \u201cplacing the Department at the forefront of new and evolving research initiatives\u201d to serving as \u201ca champion for education, mentorship, faculty development, and diversity.\u201d His dean notes that \u201che is one of my most trusted senior leaders; someone to whom I can turn for his innovative approaches to interdisciplinary collaborations and medical student education.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Dr. Coleman has served as Chair of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and\u00a0physician-in-chief<\/span> at Boston Medical Center since 2006. During his tenure, the Department has seen tremendous growth in its research and clinical care portfolios and educational programming.<\/p>\n
