We maintain and provide open access to resources in an effort to increase accessibility of instruments for investigators. We fully support investigators in their efforts to win extramural funding and offer demonstrations of equipment to the BU community. Our services utilize a variety of equipment including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IonOptix calcium imaging system<\/li>\n<li>Olympus DSU spinning disk confocal microscope<\/li>\n<li>Two-photon confocal<\/li>\n<li>Nikon deconvolution wide-field Epifluorescence system<\/li>\n<li>Zeiss LSM 710-Live Duo scan<\/li>\n<li>Olympus stereo fluorescence imaging microscope<\/li>\n<li>Leica SP5 confocal microscope<\/li>\n<li>Olympus Upright<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are skilled at training users to operate all of our equipment to obtain their desired image of a variety of cell types.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2019\/09\/ivis.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"119\" class=\" wp-image-12100 alignleft\" \/><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/research\/cores\/ivis-imaging-core\/\">IVIS Imaging Core<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The IVIS Imaging Core offers non-invasive monitoring of bio-luminescence and fluorescence optical signals in in 2D or 3D within small animal models (rats and mice) or comparatively sized tissues post animal retrieval for specimens from larger animals. The IVIS Imaging Core is equipped with the Revvity Spectrum IVIS imaging System \u2013 with Xenogen Anesthesia System, and Living Image Acquisition\/Analysis Package.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2019\/09\/metabloic.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"130\" class=\"wp-image-12101 alignleft\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/research\/cores\/metabolic-phenotyping-core\/\"><strong>Metabolic Phenotyping Core<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The Metabolic Phenotyping Core provides experimental testing services to researchers studying metabolic diseases in mouse models. We are able to provide measurements of the following parameters in live mouse models:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Body composition (fat\/lean mass) with EchoMRI-ESF700<\/li>\n<li>Basal metabolic rate, energy expenditure and substrate oxidation with temperature-controlled CLAMS\/Oxymax Calorimetry (Columbus Instruments)<\/li>\n<li>Maximal Aerobic Capacity (8-unit treadmill)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2019\/09\/single-cell-imaging.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"115\" height=\"115\" class=\" wp-image-12102 alignleft\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2019\/09\/single-cell-imaging.png 150w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2019\/09\/single-cell-imaging-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 115px) 100vw, 115px\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/singlecell\/\"><strong>Single Cell Sequencing Core<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Single Cell Sequencing Core provides in-house services for single cell RNA sequencing. Our single cell services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Library preparation using microfluidic devices using the Chromium Single Cell 3\u2032 System from 10x Genomics and Bio-Rad\u00ae Single-Cell ddSEQ Single-Cell Isolator<\/li>\n<li>Manual plate-based library preparations using CEL-Seq2 single-cell transcriptomics method using in vitro transcription<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We use Illumina next-generation sequencing to bring you massive amounts of reliable, cost-effective, and robust data.
