Mentors!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Finance Mentors:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2024\/09\/Dennis-Chow.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"122\" class=\" wp-image-21596 alignnone\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Dennis Chow, Director of Revenue, Financial Operations and Strategy,<\/strong>\u00a0has worked at BMC for close to 15 years.\u00a0 He served as an accounting assistant and staff accountant for the Pediatrics department before joining Department of Medicine as a junior accountant. Over the past decade, he has served in various roles ranging from senior accountant and senior budget &amp; financial analyst to his current role as Director of Revenue, Financial Operations and Strategy.\u00a0 Throughout his career, his tasks have involved implementing new financial and budgetary processes, \u00a0as well as reviewing and improving upon existing ones.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Galatis.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"122\" class=\" wp-image-21596 alignnone\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Galatis.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Galatis-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Galatis-100x100.jpeg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 122px) 100vw, 122px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Mike Galatis, Associate Director of Revenue, Financial Operations and Strategy, <\/strong>has been in the DoM for 7 years, working in research, accounting, revenue cycle, and currently acts as Associate Director of Finance. His responsibilities include revenue cycle, analysis, and clinical operations in the department. More importantly, he\u2019s working to increase the data literacy and transparency within the department. Whether it be productivity dashboards for clinicians or revenue metrics for department leadership, most of his efforts are examining opportunities to improve the bottom line of the department. She has been in her role for 1.5 years where her main responsibilities include generating monthly clinician dashboards and action plan templates as well as ad hoc analysis as needed. She is also experienced in finance operations. She worked in the section of Endocrinology as a fellowship program coordinator and Operations Manager of the Endocrinology outpatient clinic, before transitioning into her current role in GIM. Dina\u2019s responsibilities include working with faculty to meet their clinical targets, manage salaries, and work on annual budgets for the section. Dina also oversees the section\u2019s administrative team members. She is passionate about healthcare and particularly BMC because of the great colleagues she gets to work alongside.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/Knight.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"144\" class=\" wp-image-24797 alignnone\" \/><br \/>\nCasaundra Knight, Administrative Director, Hematology &amp; Medical Oncology,<\/strong> is a visionary and collaborative leader with over 15 years of progressive experience in finance, operations, and administration at Boston University Medical Center. As Senior Director for Administrative Affairs in the Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology, she oversees multi-million-dollar budgets, drives operational excellence, and leads cross-functional teams to support clinical, research, and academic missions. Casaundra is recognized for strategic planning, resource optimization, and fostering inclusive, mission-aligned work environments. She is a sought-after speaker on leadership, DEI, and innovation in academic medicine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/fos.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" class=\" wp-image-24798 alignnone\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/fos.png 256w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/fos-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/fos-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 125px) 100vw, 125px\" \/><br \/>\nJennifer Fosbroke, Senior Administrative Director, General Internal Medicine<\/strong> has been part of the Department of Medicine, with the exception of one year at Johns Hopkins, since August 2002. Over her many years in the DOM, Jen has managed ambulatory practices, overseen Revenue Cycle, been the AD for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes &amp; Nutrition and worn a few other hats (usually more than one at a time!) before transitioning into her current role in General Internal Medicine. GIM is a large Section with over 150 faculty and nearly 100 staff members.\u00a0 The Section includes the hospital medicine unit, palliative care, addiction medicine, primary care, women\u2019s health and refugee &amp; immigrant health. \u00a0Faculty are very involved in population health and value based care work as well as resident education.\u00a0 GIM also has a robust research portfolio that includes federal grants, foundation grants, state contracts and industry funds. As an AD, Jen is responsible for preparing and managing the Section\u2019s annual budget, which must take into account all these various funding sources and revenue streams.\u00a0 Throughout her career in the DOM, Jen has been fortunate to have opportunities to see the work from various perspectives, which has helped her develop a more global understanding of finances across the groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Kuo, Administrative Director, Cardiovascular Medicine,<\/strong> has been in the role since 2014. John manages the section activities to meet the needs and objectives of BMC, BU, and DoM. Working with physician leadership, providers, and the admin team, John manages the section finance, and data analysis, and consistently achieved positive annual income for the section. Prior to hospital administration, John was a nursing home administrator for 3 nursing homes and a repeat graduate of Boston University.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Research Mentors<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/S.-Nadarajan-Photo-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"87\" height=\"130\" class=\"wp-image-24795 alignnone\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/S.-Nadarajan-Photo-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2025\/09\/S.-Nadarajan-Photo.jpg 682w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 87px) 100vw, 87px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Sheela Nadarajan, Grants Manage, Infectious Diseases<\/strong>, joined BMC as a grant manager in the Section of Infectious Disease in April 2024. She has been working within grants administration for over five years and has served as a grant writer as well. She has been at the CReM for 10 years, since its inception, so in many ways they have grown in the ways a start up does! Prior to this, she worked in a research laboratory as a Researcher and this collective experience has helped her understand both research and research finance. She works closely with the faculty who belong to different sections within the Department of Medicine (DOM), so she works with Sections ADs, grant managers and central DOM administration significantly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Hillman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"112\" class=\" wp-image-21599 alignnone\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Hillman.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/medicine\/files\/2023\/09\/Hillman-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 112px) 100vw, 112px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Aline Hillman, Administrative Director, Pulmonary Center, <\/strong>is the long time Pulmonary Center Administrative Director handling all research\/grant and non-clinical related financial activities including acting as primary liaison between PI\u2019s (faculty and trainees) with CAMed OPD for preaward and with BU OSP (multiple grant related functions) and BU PAFO (post award), all research\/grant postaward functions including salary management for PI\u2019s\/faculty, trainees and research staff. Primary liaison to BU HR for hiring and other actions, as well as to many other BU research\/administrative\/financial offices.\u00a0 Administrator for a large training grant (in year 47!). Aline is very familiar with BU systems (grants, administrative processes HR, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katherine Warthen <\/strong>is a business professional with over 20 years of experience and knowledge in grants and contracts administration, Budget management. Katherine boasts solid financial administration, project management, accounts payable\/receivables, payroll processing and supervisory skills. Katherine graduated from SUNY Buffalo State College with a BS in Business Administration\/Management and has held previous roles at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Katherine has been a grants manager in the DoM for 1 year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anne Donnelly, Senior Grants Manager, Hematology and Medical Oncology,<\/strong> has over 15 years of experience in research administration. Anne collaborates with the Section\u2019s investigators and staff as well as various BMC and BU central research offices, performing pre- and post-award functions including financial oversight and effort management.
