This year, we will be hosting the Northeast Physician Scientist Student Symposium. This is a\u00a0multi-institutional effort co-organized by BU, Tufts, Harvard\/MIT, and UMass, to bring together students, trainees and faculty from the Northeast region medical schools to discuss career development and science as physician scientists.\u00a0This event is a great opportunity to network and meet other MD\/PhD’s in the area!<\/p>\n

This year, we have invited Dr. Anthony Monaco, MD, PhD, the current President of Tufts University, as our keynote speaker. He is a distinguished neurogeneticist who first identified the gene in X-linked Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, and went on to discover FOXP2, the first gene specifically involved in human speech and language.<\/div>\n

We will also be featuring student talks, poster sessions, breakout sessions and a special discussion panel focused on the hiring process for physician scientists or residents looking to set up their own research infrastructure\/labs.<\/div>\n
