You can have your Exchange e-mail, contacts, and calendar pushed to your iOS device via ActiveSync. \u00a0You can also access other campus resources via the wireless campus network using the BU 802.1x wireless network or the built-in Cisco VPN client.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Configuring your iOS Device for Outlook\/Exchange<\/h2>\n<p>The settings outlined on this page may vary slightly across devices and versions, but these instructions should be generally applicable to all users of the iOS. If these instructions are obscure, then please follow the next guide below for older iOS versions.<\/p>\n<p>Note: After you configure Exchange as described below, you might also want to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/comm\/mobile\/bu-mobile\/\">get <strong>BU Mobile <\/strong><\/a>\u2013 BU\u2019s suite of applications for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Configuring the Mail client<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can connect your device to an Exchange server by following these steps.<\/p>\n<p>1*.\u00a0 If you <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>DO<\/strong><\/span> have an email account currently setup in the <strong>Mail<\/strong> application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Settings -&gt; Passwords &amp; Accounts -&gt; Add Account.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This will prompt a list of email providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1*.\u00a0 If you <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>DO NOT<\/strong><\/span> have an email account currently\u00a0setup in the <strong>Mail<\/strong> application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tap <strong>Mail<\/strong> application.<\/li>\n<li>This will prompt a list of email providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Tap <strong>Microsoft Exchange.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2019\/01\/11.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"119\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9557\" \/><br \/>\n3.\u00a0 Input the required fields<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Email field: Input your <strong>BU email address<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Description field: Input &#8220;<strong>Exchange<\/strong>&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2019\/01\/22.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"92\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9558\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 A pop-up should occur. Tap <strong>Sign In<\/strong>.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2019\/01\/33.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"214\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9559\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 A new window will open which will prompt your BU credentials. Input your <strong>BU email address<\/strong> and <strong>Kerberos Password<\/strong>, then click <strong>Sign In<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2019\/01\/44.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"293\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0Make sure the switches for\u00a0<strong>Mail<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Contacts,<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Calendars<\/strong> are all switched\u00a0<strong>ON<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>OFF<\/strong>, depending on your preference. Then tap <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2019\/01\/55.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"221\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9561\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Your device will attempt to connect to the Exchange server with the information you have entered. If it\u2019s successful, it will take a few minutes to synchronize your device and the Exchange server. If you are unsure, please consult with your local computer support staff or submit a Help request. If you need to guess, try AD first.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Tap\u00a0<strong>Settings.<\/strong><br \/>\n2.\u00a0 Tap\u00a0<strong>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2009\/10\/iphone-ad-81.jpg\" alt=\"iphone-ad-8\" height=\"44\" width=\"224\" \/><br \/>\n3.\u00a0 Tap\u00a0<strong>Add Account.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2009\/10\/iphone-ad-91.jpg\" alt=\"iphone-ad-9\" height=\"43\" width=\"224\" \/><br \/>\n4.\u00a0 Tap\u00a0<strong>Microsoft Exchange.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2009\/10\/iphone-ad-11.jpg\" alt=\"iphone-ad-1\" height=\"92\" width=\"224\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 Fill in your<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>complete e-mail address<\/strong> as\u00a0<em>login<\/em>@bu.edu (where\u00a0<em>login <\/em>is your BU login name)<\/li>\n<li>the name of your Exchange\u00a0<strong>server<\/strong> is\u00a0<strong>xmail.bu.edu<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> <\/strong><strong>AD<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>AD2<\/strong> will be the\u00a0<strong>domain<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>your e-mail\u00a0<strong>username<\/strong> (<em>login<\/em>) and<\/li>\n<li>your e-mail\u00a0<strong>password <\/strong>(either Kerberos for AD, or the AD2 password)<\/li>\n<li>What you type in the\u00a0<strong>Description<\/strong> field is the name your Exchange account will have on your device, and will be displayed in a list if you have more than one e-mail account configured.\u00a0<em>(Devices with iOS 4 or newer can have multiple Exchange accounts. <\/em><em>However, devices with older operating systems can have only one.<\/em><em>)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>6.\u00a0 Tap\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong> to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Your device will attempt to connect to the Exchange server with the information you have entered. If it\u2019s successful, it will take a few minutes to synchronize your device and the Exchange server. When it\u2019s done, your most recent e-mail, calendar items, and your Exchange Contacts will be viewable on your device.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0 The next step is to adjust a few settings for your Exchange account.<\/p>\n<p>Tap\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mail, Contacts, Calendars<\/strong> then tap the account you just created to see the\u00a0<strong>Exchange ActiveSync<\/strong> page. Make sure the switches for\u00a0<strong>Mail<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Contacts,<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Calendars<\/strong> are all switched\u00a0<strong>ON<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>OFF<\/strong>, depending on your preference.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2009\/10\/iphone-ad-51.jpg\" alt=\"iphone-ad-5\" height=\"288\" width=\"192\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0 Then click the\u00a0<strong>Mail Days to Sync<\/strong> button. Tap one of the options, depending on your preferences.
