Benefits<\/span><\/th>\nFile services (also known as the “Y Drive”) provides clients with a centrally managed, resilient data repository for all data classifications including restricted use<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 By default, clients will have access to the following storage:<\/p>\n
    \n
  • Personal – Space permissioned solely for each client.<\/li>\n
  • Department – A common space shared by all members of a department.\u00a0 Allows for sharing of content within the department.<\/li>\n
  • Project – Space for sharing data inter-departmentally based on established collaborative projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • Secure central storage for University data and documents.<\/li>\n
  • Frequent on-line shadow copies, snapshots, and data replication protect the data and allows for retrieval of data from recent days, weeks or months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • An AD account<\/li>\n
  • Presence on the University network:\u00a0\u00a0 on campus or off campus access via VPN.<\/li>\n
  • Supervisor-sponsored approval<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cost<\/span><\/th>\nCosts may apply for unusual storage needs.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Getting Started<\/span><\/th>\nSee instructions to connect to the Y Drive<\/a> (Mac\/PC), and request a Y Drive folder<\/a>. The Service Desk<\/a> should be contacted by<\/p>\n

  • An<\/strong> individual <\/strong>for help connecting to or changing an existing connection<\/li>\n
  • A\u00a0supervisor <\/strong>to sponsor new access for an employee or a guest<\/li>\n
