As of 8\/31\/2015, BU&#8217;s SAS 9.4 supports 32-bit computers. Most users should choose SAS Foundation (32-bit) at Step 10.\u00a0 If you are using large data sets, SAS Foundation (64-bit) is a better choice.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> To download SAS, go to either the <a title=\"SAS Download Students\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-student\/\">Student<\/a> or <a title=\"SAS Download Faculty\/Staff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-fac-staff\/\">Faculty\/Staff<\/a> download page. Read the SAS license agreement and click \u201cI Agree\u201d at the bottom, you will then be taken to a BU Web Login page. Enter your BU username and password and press \u201cLog In\u201d. If you get an error message or have trouble downloading, see our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/install\/#trouble\">troubleshooting tips below<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Download the appropriate SAS version from the website. If you are reading this guide to download SAS, you probably only need the Lite version. Click the specified ZIP file link and save it to a location on your computer you will remember. The ZIP files can be very large and it is recommended to download while on campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Once the download completes, browse to the folder you downloaded it to. Then right click on the SAS zip file (&#8220;SAS.9.4.YEAR.Lite.zip&#8221;) and select \u201cExtract All\u201d. Choose a location to unzip the file (Desktop recommended) and then press \u201cExtract\u201d. Wait for the files to extract, <em>this can take 10-20+ minutes<\/em>. Once the files finish extracting the folder should open and there will be a folder named \u201cSAS.9.4.YEAR\u201d. Double click the folder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4131\" title=\"extract2\" src=\"\/it\/files\/2012\/09\/extract2.png\" alt=\"extract2\" width=\"218\" height=\"291\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5: <\/strong>Double click on setup.exe. Unless you already have another version of SAS on your computer, you can keep the default location for installation. You may need this to work with Excel and other Microsoft Office files. If you know you need other SAS products you can select them here. Users who have large datasets will want to check &#8220;<strong>64-bit Native Mode<\/strong>&#8221; for increased performance. If you know what SAS products you are looking to install, you can selectively choose what you want. The box will have three spaces \u201cDomain\u201d, \u201cUsername\u201d, \u201cPassword\u201d, if the computer is your personally-owned device, you will enter \u201c.\u201d as the domain then the name of your account and your password.
