Among its statistical capabilities are descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, regression, analysis of variance, survival analysis, multivariate techniques, econometric and time series procedures, and operations research techniques. BUMC Information Technology currently uses\u00a0 SAS 9.4 TS1M9. <a title=\"SAS Products\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-products\/\">View included SAS products<\/a> in each SAS version. The full SAS suite is only available for Windows computers. Mac computers can access SAS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/alternatives-to-installing-sas\/\">via the web or through remote access to a Windows system<\/a>. You will be required to enter a valid Boston University username and Kerberos password to access the software from Boston University. Please check with your professor as to which version of SAS you should obtain for class.<em> If SAS is required for the completion of your degree, have your adviser submit an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/bumc-it\/request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IT request<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>To renew or obtain a copy of SAS (Students):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Students <\/strong>in approved courses, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-student\/\">download SAS for Students here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If the SAS download fails, contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/contact\/\">BUMC IT<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a name=\"fac-staff\"><\/a>Student License terms:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No limit to the number of computers that students may install SAS<\/li>\n<li>Computer <strong>MUST<\/strong> be owned by the student<\/li>\n<li>If the computer is owned or purchased by BU or BMC, the license must be paid for by the department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>SAS for Faculty &amp; Staff<\/h3>\n<p><a name=\"facultystaff\"><\/a>There is an annual $90 fee for all Faculty and Staff that need to obtain a copy of SAS<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faculty &amp; Staff License terms:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No limit to the number of computers that Faculty &amp; Staff may install SAS<\/li>\n<li>Computers <strong>MUST<\/strong> be assigned to that\u00a0Faculty &amp; Staff or are personally owned by that\u00a0Faculty &amp; Staff member<\/li>\n<li>Shared use and unassigned computers (computers that are used by more than one person) are counted as individual licenses ($90\/computer)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To renew or obtain a copy of SAS (Faculty\/ Staff):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If you have not already purchased a SAS license,\u00a0<a title=\"SAS Faculty\/Staff Request\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-facstaff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">request a new SAS license<\/a> <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>If you have already<\/strong> purchased a SAS licence, <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-fac-staff\/\">download SAS for Faculty\/Staff here<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>SAS for Boston Medical Center Staff<\/h3>\n<p>BUMC IT now accepts funds from BMC through ACH transfer. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-bmc\/\">Please submit the BMC request form<\/a> and we will provide an invoice with information on how to complete the process.<\/p>\n<p>Once you let us know the invoice is in process, you will be e-mailed a link to download SAS. BMC staff with BU accounts will be able to use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-fac-staff\/\">download portal to download SAS<\/a>. BMC staff without BU accounts can download through a sharing link.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To renew or obtain a copy of SAS (BMC):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If you have not already purchased a SAS license,\u00a0<a title=\"SAS Request (BMC)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-bmc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">request a new SAS license<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>If your payment has been received by BUMC IT, <\/strong><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/sas-fac-staff\/\">download SAS for here<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>If you wish to install SAS on a BMC computer, you will need to contact BMC IT (617-414-4500) (<a title=\"Link to BMC Service Now\" href=\"https:\/\/bmc.service-now.com\/\">Submit Request<\/a>) once you download SAS to have it installed.<\/p>\n<h3>SAS for Servers<\/h3>\n<p><a name=\"servers\"><\/a><strong>Supported platforms:<\/strong> Windows and Linux Servers (<a href=\"http:\/\/support.sas.com\/resources\/sysreq\/hosts\/index.html\">See SAS for supported versions<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>For more information on SAS server pricing please contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/contact\/\">BUMC IT<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"non-windows\"><\/a>Running SAS on a non-Windows Machine<\/h3>\n<p>SAS supports several ways of using SAS Studio to provide a basic SAS interface. BU also has a few other resources for using SAS. Please see our page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/it\/support\/site-licensed\/statistical\/sas\/alternatives-to-installing-sas\/\">Alternatives to Installing SAS<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mac Users: <\/strong>If you are using a MAC you must have\u00a0virtualization\u00a0software with Windows [<a title=\" opens in a new browser window or tab.\" href=\"http:\/\/ithc.collegestoreonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Students<\/a>\/<a title=\" opens in a new browser window or tab.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/desktop\/site-licensed-software\/microsoft\/download-facultystaff-only\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty\/Staff<\/a>] installed in order to install the full SAS suite.
