The program leadership works closely with research faculty to identify and facilitate research projects for residents. A small group of faculty reviews each research proposal to be sure that they are feasible and well-supervised. At least one-third of our residents conduct substantial research projects, many of who present their work at out annual Evans Department of Medicine Research Celebration, Senior Resident Academic Day, and other national or regional meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The department&#8217;s research program provides an extraordinary environment for faculty and residents to work collaboratively in preventing, diagnosing, and treating human diseases. The department&#8217;s research funding is from the National Institutes of Health, which places it in the very top group o research intensive Department of Medicine in the United States.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Senior Resident Academic Day &#8211; SRAD<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Residents are required to complete a scholarly project during their three year training period. Scholarly projects could involve bench research, clinical research, patient safety and quality, educational projects, and much more. During their third year of training, these projects are presented during dedicated conferences and\/or as posters on Senior Resident Academic Day (SRAD).
