Our researchers have active fields sites in Africa and Asia researching a range of diseases including HIV\/AIDS, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/id\/files\/2021\/05\/download.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"208\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4562 alignleft\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.bu.edu\/Nahid.Bhadelia\">Nahid Bhadelia, MD, MA<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Dr. Bhadelia is the founding director of BU Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy and Research. Her <\/span><span>research focuses on global health security and pandemic preparedness, including medical countermeasure evaluation and clinical care for emerging infections, diagnostics evaluation and positioning, infection control policy development, and healthcare worker training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/id\/files\/2021\/07\/Screen-Shot-2021-07-07-at-12.42.15-PM-299x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"171\" height=\"172\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4718 alignleft\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.bu.edu\/Daniel.Bourque\">Daniel Bourque, MD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bourque is <span>involved in clinical investigation on Chagas disease, which is a chronic parasitic infection endemic to many parts of Latin America and disproportionately affects migrant patients from endemic regions. Major current projects include neonatal sepsis prevention using prebiotics and probiotics in Bangladesh; nutritional status of adolescents in Zambia; and a prospective cohort study that includes a biobank of US immigrants with Chagas disease. Through epidemiological studies &amp; health economic modeling, he hopes find ways to use nutritional policy to end TB.
