Catherine Anania, DO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School<\/strong>: University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> University of Arizona in Tucson<\/p>\n

Katie is from upstate New York, and attended the George Washington University for her undergraduate studies in International Affairs. Before medical school, she interned with an NGO in Morocco which focused on providing eye care to rural parts of the country. She obtained her D.O. at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine where she conducted research related to immigrant health in Maine. She completed her IM residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson where she further developed her interest in infectious diseases through research related to anal cancer screening the HIV population and Strongyloides seroprevalence among transplant recipients. She is looking forward to exploring her interests in tuberculosis, public health, and refugee\/ immigrant health while at BMC. In her free time, she enjoys (attempting) to learn languages, learning about obscure historical topics, hiking, and being near the ocean.<\/p>\n

Sauharda Karki, MBBS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School<\/strong>: B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and BronxCare Health System<\/p>\n

Sau is from Nepal, where he completed medical school at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. After graduation, he worked as a government medical officer across various regions of Nepal\u2014an experience that inspired his interest in the care of marginalized populations. His interest in vector-borne illnesses was shaped by clinical experiences in endemic areas of eastern Nepal. During his residency in New York, he gained valuable clinical and personal experience working with underserved communities in the Bronx. He is excited to continue learning at BMC and hopes to contribute to the institution\u2019s mission. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer.<\/p>\n

Matthew Neale, MD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School<\/strong>: The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> UMass Chan Medical School<\/p>\n

Matt is originally from Rhode Island. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Northeastern University. After college, Matt spent two years conducting microbiology research at Women & Infants Hospital investigating virulence mechanisms in the fungal pathogen Candida parapsilosis. He went on to attend the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University for his undergraduate medical education, and thereafter completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts. His ID interests including tropical medicine, clinical microbiology, and diagnostic and antimicrobial development. <\/p>\n

Michaela Barry, MD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School<\/strong>: University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> University of Pittsburgh Medical Center<\/p>\n

Michaela is from just north of Boston. She moved to upstate New York to complete undergraduate studies at Cornell University, and medical school at the University of Rochester. She credits her undergrad and medical school communities with helping her to develop a passion for health equity, with specific interests in reducing barriers to care for patients experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, and substance use disorders. She further developed her interests in endovascular infection during her residency training at UPMC. She is excited to train in Infectious Diseases and Addiction Medicine at BMC, where she looks forward to developing her knowledge in both fields, and learning advocacy skills along the way. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys container gardening, spending time outside and writing.<\/p>\n

Scott Fabricant, MD, PhD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School:<\/strong> Rutgers New Jersey Medical School<\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> NYP Weill Cornell<\/p>\n

Scott is originally from Syosset NY, and moved west to attend undergrad at Washington University in St Louis. He then moved further west to Macquarie University in Australia to study evolutionary ecology, and got involved in organizing campus sexual health programming. He later returned to the US to attend medical school at Rutgers NJMS, where he led student initiatives enhancing the continuity of care for people with substance use disorders in the emergency department and local homeless shelters. He did his internal medicine residency at NYP Weill Cornell, where his interests in ID grew (“it’s still ecology!” he says), and implemented a project assessing resident attitudes towards PICC use for PWID. His academic interests include medical education, substance use disorders, HIV prevention and sexual health. His personal interests include his dog, other people’s dogs (with permission), eating new food, traveling to new places, and long naps.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Lafollette, MD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical School:<\/strong> Tufts University School of Medicine<\/p>\n

Residency:<\/strong> UMass Chan Medical School<\/p>\n

Stephanie is from Southington, CT but has been in MA ever since she attended undergrad at Holy Cross. She went to Tufts for medical school and then residency at UMass where she fell in love with medical education and dec<\/span>ided to stay an extra year as a Chief Resident. Her ID interests include antibiotic stewardship and general ID. Outside of work she loves taking care of her freshwater fish tank, numerous house plants, and checking out speakeasies around Boston with her husband.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
