At Boston Medical Center, we have a large tropical medicine where we see patients with a variety of travel and migration-associated infectious diseases. This includes a cohort of Chagas disease patients, primarily identified through a screening program at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. As part of this work, we have a cooperative agreement with CDC. The INSECT (Implementing Novel Strategies for Education and Chagas Testing) program (@ChagasBoston) aims to roll out education about Chagas disease and enhance screening locally and nationally. We are also engaged in diagnostics studies to improve the diagnosis of tropical diseases.
