Subspecialty Blocks:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hematology<\/em><\/strong>:<\/em> 2 months in 1st year, 1 month in 2nd year. Outpatient clinics with exposure to amyloid, transplant and sickle cell as well as involvement in inpatient care and consultation on acute hematologic cases such as acute leukemia and lymphoma.<\/p>\n

Thoracic\/Gastrointestinal Oncology<\/em><\/strong>: 4 outpatient clinics per week with subspecialty BMC attendings.\u00a0 In addition, fellows attend and present their patients at the disease specific Tumor Boards.<\/p>\n

Breast\/Gynecologic\/Genitourinary Oncology: <\/em><\/strong>4 outpatient clinics per week with subspecialty BMC attendings.\u00a0 In addition, fellows attend and present their patients at the disease specific Tumor Boards.<\/p>\n

Other Clinical Rotations:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Continuity Clinics<\/em><\/strong>: Two \u00bd day clinics per week during the 6 month block at, VA and BMC during the first two years.\u00a0 Clinics are disease based at BMC, and general hematology and oncology based at the VA.\u00a0 Guided by fellow interest, and continue through subspecialty rotations.\u00a0 During the final year of training fellows can choose 6 month or 12 month blocks of clinic at either site, and can choose to be involved in fewer clinics if focusing on research or more clinics if more clinically focused.<\/p>\n

Consult Service: <\/em><\/strong>At the VA Boston sees new and follow up consults for both hematology and oncology on inpatients at the West Roxbury VA site with the assigned consult attending. At BMC sees new and follow up consults for oncology and hematology (excluding acute leukemia and lymphoma which are followed by the hematology subspecialty fellow).<\/p>\n
