Their objective is t<span>o<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>promote<span>\u00a0visibility, connectedness, and sharing of resources among LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, students, and the larger Boston University community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/outandally.bumc.bu.edu\">BUSM Out And Ally List<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span>This is a public list of clinicians, faculty, practitioners, researchers, staff, students, and trainees across BUMC and BMC who identify as LGBTQ+ or as allies for the LGBTQ+ community. The primary mission of the OUT &amp; Ally List is to serve as a resource for BUMC LGBTQ+ students seeking mentorship, guidance, or academic and non-academic support. They strive to connect and provide BU community members with the resources, support, and community they need and deserve and host weekly programming that include events such as mental health workshops, sexual health workshops, BU faculty &amp; staff panels, Know Your Rights workshops, game nights, allyship workshops, charity drag shows, and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Q also has numerous comprehensive LGBTQ+ resource guides &#8211; you can access them <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/linktr.ee\/bulgbtqresources\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span><a href=\"https:\/\/bostonu.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJYpdemhqTsoHdTi3AX-Yx0WUVdf33AYQeyF\">First-Gen and LGBTQIA+: Navigating College and Beyond<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span><strong><\/strong><\/span><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Tuesday, June 22nd, 12:00 \u2013 1:00pm ET<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><span>In celebration of Pride Month, the Newbury Center and the LGBTQIA+ Faculty and Staff Network are co-sponsoring this event featuring a panel of BU students, staff, and faculty who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community and are\/were first-generation college students.\u00a0 They will share some of their own stories and offer encouragement and advice. <\/span>RSVP\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bostonu.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJYpdemhqTsoHdTi3AX-Yx0WUVdf33AYQeyF\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Find additional information on BU Pride 2021 events and programming <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/outlist\/pride-month\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/713486435946930\/?active_tab=discussion\">Trans Resistance March and Vigil<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><b><i>Saturday, June 12th, 11:00 am \u2013 4:00pm ET<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b><span>On June 12, 2021, Trans Resistance MA will hold their second annual March &amp; Vigil for Black Trans Lives. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.\u00a0<\/span><span>They will meet at 10:30 am at 2400 Washington Ave in Boston (Nubian Square) and\u00a0<\/span><span>march from Nubian Square to Franklin Park Playstead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edumed.org\/resources\/lgbtqia-healthcare-and-education\/\">Creating LGBTQIA+ Friendly Communities in Healthcare &amp; Education<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Inclusive, welcoming, patient-centered healthcare should be afforded to people from all walks of life, especially those who often feel marginalized due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. This EduMed.org resource outlines the challenges we face and the steps we can take to bridge the LGBTQIA+ health gap from the classroom to the clinic.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/gayforgood.org\/boston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gay For Good (Boston Chapter)<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span>Gay For Good aims to energize and mobilize the LGBTQ community to interact with the greater community by volunteering time to various social welfare and environmental service projects. Each month, Gay For Good Boston selects a different non-profit to donate our time for a community service project.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/orgs\/massachusetts-commission-on-lgbtq-youth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The Commission is an independent state agency that helps all youth thrive.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masstpc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Massachusetts\u00a0Transgender Political Coalition<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>MTPC works to ensure the wellbeing, safety, and lived equity of all trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive community members in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/gbpflag.org\/mission-and-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greater Boston PLFAG<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span>The Greater Boston PFLAG is a group of parents, families, friends, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people who help change attitudes and create an environment of understanding so that LGBTQ family members and friends can live in a world that is safe and inclusive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"content-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/edhub.ama-assn.org\/howard-brown-cme\/interactive\/18543926\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Creating Trans Affirming Spaces \u2013 Using Gender Appropriate Language<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span>In this foundational module, learners will acquire skills and best practices to communicate in ways that are affirming to transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) patients to mitigate the traumatic effects of misgendering patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrevorproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Trevor Project<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span>Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer &amp; questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.drugwatch.com\/health\/lgbtq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LGBTQ+ Health Guide<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span> Drugwatch, a free online health resource, has<\/span><span> published an LGBTQ+ \u00a0health guide to help individuals better understand symptoms or conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vpnmentor.com\/blog\/lgbtq-guide-online-safety\/\">LGBTQ+ Online Safety Guide<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>vpnMENTOR provides practical strategies for coping with adversity, bigotry, and abuse on the web.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In honor of Pride month, we compiled a list of resources for supporting our LGBTQ+ community, both from Boston University and outside organizations.
