Scholars Day 2014 will take place on Tuesday, April 15th<\/sup> in the George Sherman Union with abstract submissions due 4\/6. \u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

The abstract submission form for\u00a0Scholars Day 2014\u00a0will be available between March 17-31<\/b> (starting and ending at noon on those dates) at http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/scholars-day-2014\/<\/a>.\u00a0 Advisors will be asked to approve student abstracts by Sunday, April 6th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Students whose abstracts are not approved by the deadline will not have a designated location at the event.<\/p>\n

All graduate students in a degree-granting program at Boston University who are also engaged in research in any area of study are invited to participate.<\/span>\u00a0Postdoctoral researchers are also welcome, but are not eligible for awards.<\/p>\n

This event is intended to honor and celebrate research by our graduate students and has been held at Boston University for nearly two decades. Originally, the event focused on science and engineering research, but was expanded in recent years to include the arts, humanities, and social sciences. \u00a0Over time, the number and quality of presentations has grown enormously, as has the number of awards presented by schools, college, centers and institutes. \u00a0The judging forms used by schools and colleges provide feedback to students from faculty reviewing the work.<\/p>\n

This year, we hope to further encourage submissions from the arts and humanities by including panels, the conventional format for presenting research in these disciplines. \u00a0Panels will be built around scholarly areas that emerge from the abstracts submitted.<\/p>\n

Those students presenting posters will be asked to set up beginning at 9:30 a.m. \u00a0Poster judging will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. \u00a0Please plan to be present during as much of this time as possible, as you may need to assist the judges in their understanding of your work. \u00a0Panel judging will take place during the sessions themselves, which will be scheduled in advance.<\/p>\n

If you are a graduate student or post-doc, we hope you will consider participating (Post-docs are not eligible for awards).\u00a0\u00a0If you are a member of the faculty, we hope you will consider volunteering to judge and provide feedback, encouraging your graduate students to become involved, and persuading your undergraduate students to attend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
