Therefore, you are advised to complete your application as soon as possible.**<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Supporting Documents:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students must submit their unofficial transcript(s) and letters of recommendation in English to be reviewed via the applicant portal. A WES evaluation (<span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wes.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">www.wes.org<\/a>)<\/span> is not required but is helpful for the review process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL\/IELTS results must be submitted with your application. The TOEFL\/IELTS requirement is waived <strong>only<\/strong> if you have received, or expect to receive, an undergraduate or graduate degree from a college or university in the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl.html?utm_source=institution&amp;utm_medium=ref&amp;utm_campaign=toefl-demandgen-partner-US-con-2025-Q1-10&amp;utm_content=boston-uni&amp;utm_creative=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">TOEFL<\/span>:<\/a><\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>5.0<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>or higher for the<span>\u00a0<\/span><span><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\/test-takers\/ibt\/scores\/understand-scores.html\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\" rel=\"noopener\">new TOEFL score reports<\/a><\/span> starting in January 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>97-10<\/strong><span><strong>0<\/strong> Overall Score on the older test, with a minimum of 20 in each section<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ielts.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">IELTS<\/a><\/strong>:<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>7.0<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Overall Band Score<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The home edition of TOEFL is scored the same as TOEFL iBT taken in a test center. Both are acceptable. TOEFL Essentials is scored differently and is <strong><em>not<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>accepted by BU.<\/p>\n<p>Some programs may accept\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishtest.duolingo.com\/\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Duolingo<\/a><\/span>\u00a0English proficiency exam<strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Please confirm with your program of choice. \u00a0Minimum score for DuoLingo is 105. If you take the Duolingo exam, please submit the individualized URL for your test score by emailing the GMS Admissions office (<span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"mailto:gmsadmsn@bu.edu\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">gmsadmsn@bu.edu<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>International Masters students who accept an admission offer must submit financial documents that support projected expenses via the WebadMIT applicant portal. \u00a0The funds must be liquid and can be in the form of a loan from a bank or from a relative as long as a current bank statement for the relative shows the requisite bank balance. The applicant must submit a signed letter of support for their education at Boston University from the relative pledging the loan or the bank lender. Learn more if all or part of your tuition is to be a <span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/studentaccountingservices\/your-bill\/other-deductions\/\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">billed to a sponsor.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Financial documentation for international Ph.D. applicants is NOT required.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><strong>Additional Documents Required<\/strong><\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>International students will be prompted to complete a separate section of materials once they have been admitted to their program of interest and accepted the offer.\u00a0 <b>Please keep in mind that processing of international documents can take as long as six months.
