{"id":61004,"date":"2018-09-27T16:32:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-27T20:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/?page_id=61004"},"modified":"2020-12-03T10:04:51","modified_gmt":"2020-12-03T15:04:51","slug":"dr-erika-ebbel-angle-community-service-award-application","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/admissions\/student-financial-services\/dr-erika-ebbel-angle-community-service-award-application\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Erika Ebbel Angle Community Service Award Application"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p>Applications for the\u00a0Dr. Erika Ebbel Angle Community Service Award\u00a0are now being accepted. \u00a0The award will\u00a0fund biomedical graduate students and\/or postdoctoral researchers to develop or expand a project dedicated to service in the STEM field.\u00a0This award is made possible by a generous gift from Dr. Ebbel Angle (a Ph.D. alumna from BUSM) and her husband, Colin Angle. \u00a0The award recognizes Dr. Angle&#8217;s efforts in developing Science from Scientists\u00a0whose stated mission is \u201cto teach and inspire the next generation to identify and solve real-world problems by improving STEM literacy\u201d.\u00a0Scientific community outreach activities could include interactions with educators, community leaders, non-profit organizations or foundations.\u00a0Think broadly and consider STEM education, health care technology, health care delivery or other impactful mechanisms of service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0Round<\/strong>: Candidates should submit an abstract (approximately 300 words) along with a C.V. or resume. The abstract should describe the rationale, methods, benefits and anticipated outcomes of the project. The methods should include, but by no means be limited to who the project will serve, how it will be implemented, whether this is a new project or existing project, as well as collaborators on the project. Submissions should describe appropriate methodologies and consider the necessary safety measures given the current global COVID-19 pandemic. The abstract and C.V.\/resume is\u00a0<strong>due by Jan. 25, 2021 at 5:00 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0Round:\u00a0<\/strong>Finalists will be selected and notified by Feb. 8, 2021. Finalists will need to provide additional information. This will include a letter of support from the trainee\u2019s primary mentor and, if applicable, from collaborators. A budget and a timeline defining goals\/milestones will be required.
