{"id":49384,"date":"2016-05-25T16:07:01","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T20:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/?page_id=49384"},"modified":"2020-08-07T16:15:11","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T20:15:11","slug":"community-resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/bmfs\/currentstudents\/community-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"DNA Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Boston University DNA Mixture Training Website and the PROVEDIt Database<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/dnamixtures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Boston University DNA Mixture site<\/a> contains more than 27,000 thousand electronic profiles and a series of lessons on DNA profile interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>This collection of .fsa and .hid profiles was generated over a four year period and includes 1- to 5- person DNA samples amplified with targets ranging from 1 to 0.007 ng. In the case of multi-contributor samples, the contributor ratios ranged from equal parts of each contributor to mixtures containing 19 parts of one and 1 part of the other(s).\u00a0 Additionally, these profiles were generated using a variety of laboratory conditions from samples containing pristine; damaged (i.e., UV-Vis); enzymatically\/sonically degraded; and inhibited DNA.<\/p>\n<h4>PROVEDIt Software Programs<\/h4>\n<p>The PROVEDIt project also consists of a suite of analysis and interpretation <em><\/em>software systems developed in a variety of environments by a multidisciplinary, inter-institutional team.\u00a0 The profiles and tools are made available to the community by the Laboratory for Forensic Research &amp; Technology Development.<\/p>\n<p>The collection includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CEESIt: Computational Evaluation of Evidentiary Signal &#8211; Outputs the likelihood ratio, likelihood ratio distribution and p-value for an unknown.<\/li>\n<li>NOCIt:\u00a0 Number of Contributors &#8211; Outputs the <em>a posteriori<\/em> probability distribution for the number of contributors from which the sample arose.<\/li>\n<li>GGETIt:\u00a0 Genotype Generator &amp; Evaluation Tool &#8211; A simulator that outputs the minimum number of contributors based on allele counts and compares it against the known number of contributors.<\/li>\n<li>SEEIt: Simulating Evidentiary Eletropherograms &#8211; A dynamic model written in the Stella<sup>TM<\/sup> environment that simulates the entire forensic process and produces simulated, well-characterized electropherograms for up to six contributors.<\/li>\n<li>CleanIt: \u00a0An automated procedure for filtering bleed-through, complex bleed-through and\u00a0 minus A from an electropherogram.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boston University DNA Mixture Training Website and the PROVEDIt Database The Boston University DNA Mixture site contains more than 27,000 thousand electronic profiles and a series of lessons on DNA profile interpretation.
