International students may only waive coverage if they are enrolled under a US-based plan that meets the comparable coverage requirements.\u00a0Please spend time reading about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/getting-started\/student-health-insurance-plan\/\">BU&#8217;s health insurance requirement<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to be sure that you make\u00a0the best and most cost-effective decision.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: GMS PhD students are automatically enrolled in the BU PLUS health insurance plan.<\/p>\n<h4>Physical Examination and Immunization Requirements<\/h4>\n<p>Graduate Medical Sciences cares about the health and wellness of our entire student community.\u00a0To ensure our students\u2019 well-being, Boston University requires that every incoming student has health insurance and that they submit proof of examination by a licensed medical practitioner.\u00a0The Commonwealth of Massachusetts also requires proof of immunization against certain common communicable diseases.
