Please note that that MD program has a separate registrar.<\/p>\n<h4>Email Communications<\/h4>\n<p>All important GMS communications are emailed to the student\u2019s BU email account. For those students who wish to have their email forwarded from their BU account to a different account, please be sure the email\u00a0forwarding is functioning correctly.<\/p>\n<h4>Address Changes\/Forwarding Address<\/h4>\n<p>Students may change their address in MyBU student<\/p>\n<h4>Withdrawing or Taking a Leave of Absence from Graduate Medical Sciences<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>A student\u00a0<i>Withdraws <\/i>from a program when they officially drop ALL courses taken during the current semester and leave their program of study prior to completion of their degree.<\/li>\n<li>A student requests a\u00a0<i>Leave of Absence<\/i> (LOA) to take a period of time off prior to resuming and completing their program. For more details please see Section 11.2 of GMS Academic Policies and Procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Students should discuss their situation with their advisor\/program director and submit the Withdrawal\/Leave of Absence Form to the GMS Registrar&#8217;s Office.\u00a0 Students must return within one year of requesting a LOA to be reinstated without reapplying.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Health Insurance Massachusetts Law<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Massachusetts Law stipulates that college students registered must be covered by health insurance. Students registered at Boston University\u00a0 are automatically charged for the BASIC student health insurance plan. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/insurance\/\">Health insurance details<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If a student is charged for health insurance but is already covered under a\u00a0 comparable health insurance plan based in the United States, they may waive the charge on the MyBu student.\u00a0 Waivers should be completed before the payment due date.\u00a0 Students who have health insurance charge(s) on their bills cannot ignore the\u00a0 charge. The charge(s) must be paid, waived, or removed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/studentaccountingservices\/home\/\">Student Accounting Services<\/a> by the due dates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Degree Program Enrollment<\/h4>\n<p>Boston University does not permit a student to enroll simultaneously in more than one graduate program either within Boston\u00a0 University or at another institution, unless those programs have been\u00a0 previously approved by the Trustees of Boston University as a combined\u00a0 degree program.<\/p>\n<h4>International Students<\/h4>\n<p>Visit the<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> ISSO<\/a> site for specific requirements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Registrar&#8217;s office in Graduate Medical Sciences provides ongoing academic support services to students, faculty and staff within the Master&#8217;s and PhD programs.
