Graduate students receive direct loans through this program, which has the same loan limits, interest rates and fees as the Federal Stafford Loan Program. Work-study and other financial aid opportunities are available through the <span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/admissions\/student-financial-services\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Graduate Medical Sciences<\/a><\/span>\u00a0financial aid office.<\/p>\n<h2>Scholarships<\/h2>\n<h4>Internal Awards<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The BMFS Program recognizes the importance of sharing the work of graduate students with the broader scientific community. To this end, modest travel grants for students presenting at conferences are available through the Biomedical Forensic Sciences Program.<\/p>\n<h4>External Scholarships\/Awards<\/h4>\n<p>Students should speak with their research advisors regarding external scholarships, awards and fellowships.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Currently Available External Grants and Awards:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/editing.press\/bassi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lauren Bassi Scholarship<\/a>, <span>established in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed, within their disciplines. The scholarships are open to every discipline and are awarded three times per year: December, April, and August. All currently enrolled master\u2019s and doctoral candidates are eligible to apply, as are academics in the first five years of full-time employment. <a href=\"https:\/\/editing.press\/bassi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">More details here<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.astm.org\/studentmember\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ASTM International Graduate Scholarship<\/a> awarded to students\u00a0who have demonstrated high levels of interest in or involvement with ASTM standards<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/womensguild\/scholarships-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston University Women&#8217;s Guild Scholarships<\/a> are available to women enrolled in a graduate studies at Boston University<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neafs.org\/scholarships-and-awards\">NEAFS\u00a0George W. Neighbor Jr. Memorial and George W. Chin Memorial Scholarships<\/a>, recognizing academic excellence in forensic science<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neafs.org\/scholarships-and-awards\">NEAFS\u00a0Carol De Forest Student Research Grant<\/a>, providing forensic science students with financial assistance to conduct research<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The FSFs (<a href=\"http:\/\/fsf.aafs.org\/grants_scholarships\/grants-scholarships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forensic Sciences Foundation<\/a>) Annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences <em>Travel Grant<\/em>, <em>Acorn Research Grant<\/em> and <em>Jan S. Bashinski Grant<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/theiai.org\/scholarship_information.php\">IAI Johnson-Whyte Memorial Foundation Fund<\/a> established for the\u00a0purpose of promoting education and research in the disciplines of forensic identification<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.afte.org\/AssociationInfo\/a_scholarship.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AFTE Scholarship<\/a> awarded\u00a0to students seeking a career in Forensic Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Graduate Assistantships<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/bmfs\/admissions\/financial-aid\/ga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Graduate Assistantships<\/a> are available through the Biomedical Forensic Sciences program. Opportunities such as laboratory assistants and research assistants in forensic chemistry, DNA, biology and crime scene investigation and bloodstain pattern analysis are available throughout the academic year.
